“We have progressed,” said Orleans Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick, during a press conference. “Today, three of the escapes are now in custody. We have potential active clients in others.”

“People are talking. We appreciate that,” said the official, highlighting that one of the arrests came directly from a tip of the crime stoppers. “The second person we put in custody was actually a real advice of crime strike.”

Initially, the authorities said 11 had escaped, but the authorities did not realize that one had just been transferred to another cell.

Eight inmates remain in general, including four men, Corey Boyd, Lenton Vanburen, Jermaine Donald and Derrick Groves, who are accused of second degree murder, authorities said.

Then they left the property through a cargo dock door and climbed the perimeter wall using blankets to protect themselves from spike wire, Phipps said. From there, they had a clear path to the railroad tracks and then the interstate.

The sheriff’s office showed a surveillance video discovered during his investigation into the rape that showed the inmates who open a sliding door in a cell, fleeing the cargo spring and the interstate of the interstatal 10. “We have the indication that these detainees received assistance in their escape from inside our department,” Hutson said at a press conference on Friday.

“It’s almost impossible, not completely, but almost impossible for anyone to leave this installation without outside the abroad,” Hutson said.

The men were discovered disappeared during a routine template at the Orleans Justice Center at approximately 8:30 am local time on Friday, according to the largest Silas PHIPPS with the Sheriff’s office of the Orleans parish.

The United States Marshals, the Louisian State Police and probation and probation were notified at 9:30 am, Sheriff’s office said. New Orleans police officers said they were notified at 10:30 am

“There is no way that people can get out of this installation without some period,” said Hutson. “We intend to find out exactly what happened.”

The authorities said they are investigating how the violation occurred, saying that the inmates had to have received help, or at least some kind of tool that allowed them to escape.

According to officials, four supervisors and 36 staff members were in jail at the time of escape. When the rape occurred, no deputy was physically in the capsule where the inmates were housed, and a civil employee who had been assigned to observe the capsule “had actually moved away to grab food” and did not know they had escaped, Phipps said.

PHIPPS said he had no information about how long the civilian had moved away.

Hutson said the incident has highlighted the urgent need for jail repair and more personal. Hutson said they need $ 5.2 million to pay only the locks.

Hutson asked the public to remain alert, adding that the Sheriff’s department is working with the local, state and federal police in a “large -scale search operation.”

The New Orleans police superintendent, Anne Kirkpatrick, said a “group of people” who believe they are victims of inmates were retired from their homes and “taken safe.” She appealed to the witnesses of the crimes of the inmates to do the same.

Kirkpatrick said it is “more than probable” for inmates to have help and have changed jail clothes.

“We don’t want to panic, but we want people to be aware,” he told reporters.

The Sheriff described the “very serious and unacceptable” escape.

“We are launching a complete investigation to determine how this escape occurred, including the review of facilities protocols, staff performance and physical security measures,” said the Sheriff.

Anyone who has helped inmates will be responsible, promised the sheriff.

The FBI said he is helping in the search and is offering a reward of up to $ 5,000 for tips that lead to the arrest of any of the inmates escaped.

Greater New Orleans Crimeppers also said that he is offering a $ 2,000 reward for each apprehension.

Hutson questioned the moment of rape during a heated press information session on Friday night.

“Why did it happen at this time, right in the middle, since we are preparing to start the career of this sheriff?” She said. “This is very suspicious. We know they had help. We are showing you that they had help. This was coordinated. There is much more than it seems.”
